Lions Loose In The Kingdom!

Well, the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs just lost to the Detroit Lions. That’s something I never thought I’d hear in the Patrick Mahomes era…The Lions came to play last night. Jared Goff looked like a star against this Kansas City defense! He completed 22/35 for 253 yards and he was able to extend the play on more occasion than one. Oh, did I mention he’s undefeated (2-0) against Mahomes?

The Lion’s offense looked like they could do whatever they wanted. They got everyone on offense involved, David Montgomery had 21 carries for 74 yards, rookie Jahmyr Gibbs seemed limited with only 7 touches for 42 yards. Rookie Sam LaPorta was fun to watch, even though the numbers don’t reflect it with 5 catches for 39 yards, and Josh Reynolds seemingly rising from the ashes with some big catches! Goff spread the ball far and wide against the Chiefs, leading the Lions to a victory.

What happened with the Chiefs? I can answer that; Kadarius Toney happened. He only had 1 reception for -1 YDs but he was just off all around tonight, along with the rest of the offense. They did not look like the defending champs at all. Patrick Mahomes did everything he could. He threw 21/39 for 226 yards and had 6 rushes for 45 yards. No matter what he did, it seemed like nobody could catch the ball. There was so much hype for Kadarius Toney, and when the Chiefs needed a guy to step up, he couldn’t deliver. The Giants saw that early on, got rid of that bum, and used that pick to get Darren Waller. He looked confused out there and not at all like the guy everyone’s been praising this offseason. IF Toney catches those 4 passes that he dropped, Patrick Mahomes could’ve won that game. Its only week 1 and maybe he proves me wrong…but I am out on “Cant Catch A Disease Toney” until further notice. Hopefully Travis Kelce comes back soon and restores order to this offense.
